Wolverhampton Wanderers and Stoke City have both received criticism this season for an overly physical approach in the Premier League, with the teams being mentioned by Danny Murphy as ones which sometimes go too far with their challenge.

Both clubs protested their innocence at the time and will be disappointed to hear that Wolves captain Karl Henry has warned of a ugly and dirty game on Tuesday night between the two west Midlands teams.

Henry is a former Stoke player and has lit the blue touch paper with his comments, saying: “It’s going to be a really dirty game up there. Both teams will be kicking lumps out of each other. It’s going to be an ugly, dirty game that no one wants to go and watch.”

Wolves need just a point to climb out of the relegation zone, with Henry under no illusions of the task awaiting his team at the Britannia.

“It’s a huge game again, Stoke are a good side,” said Henry. “I know Tony from my time there. He sticks to his principles, strategy, regardless of what’s going on. Everyone hates playing Stoke and going there but we are going to relish it. They’ve done so well in getting to the FA Cup final.”
