X Factor Betting 2010
The outright betting market for the ITV talent show is now starting to take shape after two rounds of live performances from the acts. The bookmakers have clearly been impressed by the boy band assembled by Simon Cowell to the extent that they make One Direction a best price 11/4 (bet365) to win the X Factor, with Betfred going as short as 9/4 about the five-piece band.
It certainly appears that we’ll be seeing them at the business end of the competition, along with the painter and decorator that goes by the name of Matt Cardle. The male singer had his hat surgically removed on Saturday and still managed to pull off some high notes, so perhaps he is the runner to back at odds of 11/4 (William Hill).
However, the steamer in the outright market since the first live final has been Mary Byrne, the rotund filly who is hoping to have seen the back of her supermarket checkout days. The Irish lady delivered another flawless performance in front of the judges and you can back her at odds of 15/2 (bet365) to go all the way.
Indeed, there are rumours that she has already gone all the way with novelty act Wagner, with the Brazilian clearly possessing some charm (if you use a microscope to find it). He has survived thanks to being this year’s Jedward and is 125/1 with Boylesports if you think he can stay in the competition and be last man standing.
However, it’s the south American who features prominently on the next eviction market and Betfred offer 7/2 that he’s out on his backside after Sunday’s show. It appears that girl band Belle Amie are also living on borrowed time and they can be backed at 11/4 (Boylesports) to be shown the door.
Back to the outright market and Rebecca Ferguson could yet be the act that comes through to win the day, especially as she’s essentially a fusion of Alexandra Burke and Leona Lewis, both of whom have won this competition. The scouser can be sure to bank plenty of votes from her native Liverpool and is on offer at 13/2 (Betfred) to win the day.
Aiden Grimshaw was given a scare last week after being reduced to the final three acts and the singer has taken a walk in the market since the first live show. Somehow, he’s more fearsome than awesome on stage at the moment and probably needs a makeover if he’s to stand any chance of winning. Stan James go 9/1 that he wins.
Dannii Minogue clearly has a strong hand thanks to Matt Cardle and she is 13/8 with bet365 to be the winning judge, although Cowell will feel that One Direction can take him all the way to victory. After all, he manufactured the group from individual singers and he looks the value at 5/2 (Paddy Power) to beat his rivals this time around.
