Tottenham suffered a disappointing defeat in midweek in the Europa League, but they can bounce back against a Bolton side who have only won three all season.

Some might suspect Harry Redknapp will not be overly concerned that his side look to be heading out of Europe’s competition for ‘nearly teams’ after defeat to PAOK Salonika on Wednesday. He has, perhaps, bigger fish to fry. And there comes no bigger for Spurs than the Premier League title. In order to compete with the Manchester clubs, however, three points from games against teams in the lower reaches of the league are essential.

The home side are rightly odds-on favourites to take maximum points from this one, and can be backed at a best price of 1/3 (Coral – £30 free betting). This compares to the hefty 12/1 (Victor Chandler – £75 free bets) on offer for the Trotters to get the win. And while it seems an unlikely proposition, it is not beyond the realms of reality. Even so, the home win definitely looks on the cards.

Spurs have beaten Wanderers in each of their last three league meetings at White Hart Lane, and have won five out of the last six at home between the sides. In fact, Bolton have won only nine times at Spurs in the league in their history, and not since 2004.

So with Spurs being such a short price, which bets will bring home the bacon? Well, Emmanuel Adebayor has been scoring for fun recently, and he is priced at 10/3 (Coral) to open the scoring. We prefer the 15/8 (Boylesports) for Gareth Bale to get on the score sheet. He has had chances in every game he’s played and he has been putting them on a plate for Adebayor and others, so we feel it’s his turn to get a goal or two.

Overall, this should be a routine victory for Tottenham. If not, they might as well shelve their title ambitions for another season.
