Mark Hughes still has a bee in his bonnet about how he was removed from his managerial position at Manchester City a little over a year ago, with the Welshman having claimed that he would have steered the team to a Champions League position had he remained in charge at Eastlands.
Instead, the City board decided to install Roberto Mancini and there was clearly no love lost between the pair on Sunday, with Mark Hughes deciding against shaking hands with the Italian at the final whistle.
The Fulham manager didn’t like the lack of eye contact shown by Mancini and made things very clear after the match.
“I am old-fashioned,” he said.
“I always think you should offer your hand in whatever circumstances, no matter how difficult it is.
“I did it and did it with sincerity after my team had been beaten 4-1 at Craven Cottage earlier in this season.
“I acknowledged his team were better.
“Maybe I misread it but I don’t feel Roberto really acknowledged the efforts of my team and what we had done by the manner he offered his hand, by not looking at me.”
