At the start of the season, George Gillett and Tom Hicks were hanging on to the ownership of Liverpool FC before John Henry brushed them aside and the new board have wasted little time in stating their intentions, handing Kenny Dalglish a three-year contract and splashing out on Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll.

The Reds have enjoyed a strong second half to the season under Dalglish and it appears that more money will be spent on players this summer, with Pepe Reina revealing that a key driver behind the Spaniard staying at Anfield was down to the promise of investment.

Reina said: “Everything has changed. The situation of the club, recently I have talked with Comolli asking for the future and I believe in this club, in the project and I am happy here. My family was really desperate to stay, they are really happy here, but in December and January more or less most of the people, and not just the players, were doubting the future because we were not good enough.

“I never felt I had to leave, because I wanted to believe in the project, but the situation wasn’t nice and the mood all over the place was not good. That is not the case any more and we are ready to take next step.”
