Fernando Torres looks like he is about to get his wish and complete a move to Chelsea on Monday evening, with Liverpool agreeing to let the west London club speak with their star striker as they themselves tie up a deal which will snare Andy Carroll from Newcastle.

While Kenny Dalglish insisted earlier on Monday that the Torres sale was not dependent on the acquisition of Carroll, it will certainly be easier for Liverpool to allow the Spaniard to leave now that a strike pairing of Luis Suarez and Carroll seem to have been banked.

Indeed, these players will arrive for roughly the same amount of money that Chelsea are reportedly going to be paying for Torres, with Liverpool demanding somewhere in the region of £50 million for the World Cup winner.

Torres arrived at Anfield in the summer of 2007 for £26.5 million and made an instant impression with Liverpool supporters, with the striker managing 65 Premier League goals for the Reds despite just 91 starts.

However, his time at the club has also been plagued by various injuries and this might turn out to be a good piece of business on the part of Liverpool FC.
