While West Ham and Tottenham were involved in a bitter battle to win the bid which would mean one of them takes control of the Olympic Stadium after the 2012 Games, a third football club have entered the fray and claimed that the ruling in favour of the Hammers was unjust.
Leyton Orient chairman Barry Hearn has written to David Cameron and asked the Prime Minister to investigate the decision behind awarding the decision to West Ham United.
Hearn believes that the League One club may struggle to survive in their current location given that they are the club closest to the Olympic Stadium and has stated that no consideration was given to Orient when the wrangling took place.
“How on earth has nobody even considered us and how on earth has the government or Premier League, or anybody else, not even had the respect to discuss it with us?” said Hearn.
“It’s a question of due process and whether the Olympic Park Legacy Committee, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and even the Prime Minister have given consideration to Leyton Orient in these discussions.
“The government has a responsibility to take into account all the effects of any ruling they take.”
