Tuesday and Wednesday FA Cup betting preview
Leeds v Kettering
The ITV cameras will be at Elland Road hoping to capture an upset, with Sky Bet going as big as 16/1 that Kettering win Tuesday night’s match. While the Blue Square Premier team showed lots of spirit to land a 1-1 draw at Rockingham Road, it’s a tall order to see them matching the League One leaders in the replay, with Leeds no bigger than 1/4 (Canbet) to win in ninety minutes and book a tasty trip to Old Trafford in the third round. Simon Grayson will be urging his team to be professional and Jermaine Beckford (3/1 Coral) is the player likeliest to break Town hearts.
Aldershot v Tranmere
Despite Rovers being a division higher than their opponents, the bookies make them the 21/10 (bet365) outsiders to win this midweek replay. Although their lowly league position explains why, Tranmere have recently picked up, drawing 3-3 at Huddersfield last week before beating Brentford 1-0. Caretaker manager Les Parry has got the team playing with pride and Craig Curran (8/1 Ladbrokes) has scored in his last two matches. The Shots came away from Prenton Park with a creditable 0-0 draw ten days ago and they are 7/5 (Canbet) to finish the job off at the Recreation Ground. This match could easily go to extra-time, although the visitors are possibly too big at 6/5 (bet365) to go through.
Luton Town v Rotherham
The Hatters are a strange team in that they are struggling for consistency in the Blue Square Premier, yet they can mix it with the best League Two teams in the cup. Having beaten Rochdale in the first round, they came away from the Don Valley Stadium with a 2-2 draw and bet365 offer 2/1 that they finish the job in front of their own supporters. However, it’s at Kenilworth Road that they have been stuttering recently, although Tom Craddock (15/2 bet365) is at least back among the goals. The Millers tossed away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Burton on Saturday, although they have arguably the best League Two striker in Adam Le Fondre (5/1 William Hill). We might expect Over 2.5 Goals (21/20 William Hill) in this match.
Millwall v Staines Town
The FA website will be streaming this match, with the winner of the game hosting Derby County in the third round. Naturally, it’s the Lions who are massive favourites (1/4 Blue Square), especially as they boast strong form at the New Den this season. Kenny Jackett’s team beat AFC Wimbledon 4-1 in the first round and, considering that Staines are a division below in the Conference South, the 4/6 (bet365) about the Lions leading at half-time and full-time is an interesting price. Town are a 14/1 chance (Victor Chandler) to write their name in FA Cup folklore and, for most players, it will be the biggest came in their careers. Ali Chaaban was the goalscoring hero in the original tie, while he also scored the winner at Shewsbury in the first round. The striker is a 12/1 chance (bet365) to open the scoring.
