It appears as though West Bromwich Albion FC are set to imminently appoint a successor to Roberto Di Matteo, with the Midlands club set to put their trust in Chris Hughton to keep the Baggies in the Premier League.
Hughton was harshly sacked by Newcastle United earlier in the season, despite steering the Magpies to promotion last season and it appears as though Albion have identified him as the man to stop the team’s poor run of form.
At the time of writing, only a couple of bookmakers still have odds on the next West Brom manager, with Hughton available at odds of 1/5 and the next in the betting being Michael Appleton.
Appleton is a former Albion player whose career was cruelly cut short by injury. It appears that he is highly regarded at The Hawthorns and will almost certainly remain in place as part of the club’s coaching staff.
Di Matteo was sacked by West Brom last Sunday after the team’s 3-0 defeat at Manchester City on Saturday.
