Carlo Ancelotti cut a despairing figure on the sidelines at Old Trafford last Sunday, with the Italian watching his Chelsea team cut apart by Manchester United during their Premier League title showdown.

It means that Ancelotti has been unable to follow up his double-winning season of 2009/10 with any silverware during the current campaign, with speculation mounting about whether Roman Abramovich will retain his services in the summer.

One Chelsea player that wants Ancelotti to remain is captain John Terry, who is a big fan of his current manager and would like to see some stability at the club.

“He’s got my full support. I love Carlo,” Terry told the Sun. “He won the double in his first year and this season the injuries and releasing players has been tough for him.”

“When José Mourinho was here we had a big squad but we miss that. Somewhere in between where we are, and what we had, would be ideal,” Terry added.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea plunge into the transfer market during the summer, having added Fernando Torres and David Luiz to the squad in January.
