Champions League Final Betting | Inter Milan v Bayern Munich
Champions League final betting preview
We’re in for a treat on Saturday night, when the champions of Italy and Germany battle it out at the Bernabeu Stadium for Europe’s biggest club prize. We’ve had some entertaining Champions League finals in the last few seasons, although they have largely been dominated by English and Spanish teams, so it’s nice to see Inter Milan and Bayern Munich on the verge of greatness.
Inter are strong favourites (13/10 William Hill) to win on the night, with the bookmakers fearful of offering too big a price about the team that won Serie A for the fourth consecutive season last weekend. Jose Mourinho has previously led Porto to success in this competition, with the former Chelsea manager having guided his team past the Blues and Barcelona on their way to the 2010 final. The dangerous attacking duo of Diego Milito (11/2 William Hill) and Samuel Eto’o (6/1 Ladbrokes) should cause plenty of problems for a defence that has not been particularly watertight in this competition.
Even so, Bayern Munich have reclaimed their Bundesliga title and they have clearly been the best team in Germany this season. Louis Van Gaal has turned things round at the Allianz Arena and we shouldn’t forget that the Dutchman has won the European Cup before, albeit fifteen years ago! On that occasion, he led Ajax to victory over AC Milan and Victor Chandler offer 12/5 that it’s Munchen who are celebrating when the referee blows the final whistle.
Indeed, Victor Chandler have launched an excellent promotion focusing on the final. If Samuel Eto’o or Arjen Robben score the last goal of the game, all losing First Goalscorer, Correct Score and Double Result bets will be refunded as a free bet. It’s a pretty decent offer considering that Robben has achieved this against Fiorentina, Manchester United and Lyon in previous round. The Dutchman was not a big fan of Mourinho when the pair were at Chelsea and he’s 8/1 (Ladbrokes) to break the deadlock on Saturday night.
Ladbrokes should be applauded for their First Goalscorer prices on the Champions League final, with the Magic Sign going best price about the main protagonists in the market. Ivica Olic was the hat-trick hero against Lyon in the semi-finals and he’s on offer at 8/1 with Laddies, while the Croatian is on offer at 80/1 (Sky Bet) to bag another three-timer on the big stage. With Franck Ribery suspended, the manager might choose between Mario Gomez (9/1 Ladbrokes) and Miroslav Klose (9/1 bet365) for a starting berth.
However, Inter will be looking to keep the game tight and counter-attack with the devastating sort of pace that saw them see off the two pre-season favourites for the Champions League. While many of us would like to see an entertaining contest, the likelihood is that there will be Under 2.5 Goals (8/13 bet365), while a 1-0 victory in favour of Inter is hard to resist at 13/2 (Blue Square).
