Forest took a hammering when they lost 4-0 to Leeds on Tuesday, while Brighton earned a fine 1-0 at Derby. So who will come out on top at the Falmer Stadium?

Brighton have begun picking up points again after suffering something of a sticky spell taking just four points from nine games. But three wins in four matches (the other a loss to Championship leaders Southampton) have put them back on track to push for a play-off spot. Currently in seventh place, another three points would maintain the momentum they will need to sustain an effective challenge for promotion. They can be backed at 5/4 (Bet365 – £200 free betting) to take all three points.

Forest, meanwhile, are languishing in the relegation zone after three defeats in four (Leeds, as mentioned, as well as Cardiff and Portsmouth). New manager Steve Cotterill has spoken of his desire to bring in some new faces in the January transfer window. Unless they start getting some points on the board, however, it might turn out to be too little too late. The one thing that might save the visitors is that Brighton’s home form is not great. Of the last six in the league they have won two, drawn two and lost two. On the other hand, Forest have won two and lost four of their last six on the road, so they don’t look in a great position to capitalise on any potential frailties.
