These sides have identical records over the last six games and having taken just six points in that period each will be desperate for a result on Saturday.

Bolton are badly struggling and currently reside in the relegation zone. Owen Coyle’s men have taken just nine points from 12 games and with Christmas approaching there is an urgent need for them to start moving up the table. With Gary Cahill looking likely to depart in January, pressure mounting on the manager and more home defeats already than in the whole of last season, they look to be in big trouble.

They are 2/1 (Boylesports) to turn that around but given they have lost five out of six at the Reebok, shipping five goals on two occasions we’re not so sure they will. The visitors scraped a 2-1 win last weekend with a late penalty and will now be looking up rather than down.

David Moyes’ side have a good record at Bolton having won 28 and lost just 27 there in the league. With confidence returning to the Toffees their odds of 6/4 (Paddy Power) look certain to interest many. Scoring goals is their biggest problem and so Leighton Baines is always worth considering at 20/1 (Coral – £30 free bets) to get the opener. He takes penalties, most free-kicks and likes to get forward whenever possible, so at those odds he’s worth a pop.

Another interesting bet may be the draw at half-time and Everton winning at full-time. It’s something of a long shot at 21/4 (Unibet – £20 free betting) but given the number of late goals the Toffees score it could be a very good shout.

Bolton have missed the goals and link play from Johan Elmander as well as Daniel Sturridge’s lively runs and eye for goal they enjoyed last season. David N’Gog has failed to settle and with the worst home record in the division we think they would take a draw to steady the ship.

That result is currently available at odds of 12/5 (bet365) but we think Everton look a good shout to heap further misery on the Trotters and their manager.
