Blackpool v Birmingham City, 8pm

The most entertaining team in the Premier League plays one of the most boring outfits on Tuesday night and most neutrals would like to see a Blackpool win, something that’s available at odds of 7/5 with William Hill. The Tangerines are firmly on course to stay in the Premier League this season, thus laughing in the face of pundits who tipped them to be down by Christmas.

Ian Holloway’s team were unlucky to lose at Manchester City on Saturday although they should find the net against the Blues and can be backed at 10/3 (Coral) to lead at half-time and full-time. DJ Campbell will be pumped up against his former club and can be backed at 6/1 (bet365) to open the scoring, with Charlie Adam back in the team and the Scot is 8/1 (Coral) to put his team into the lead.

Birmingham simply aren’t scoring enough goals to stay in the Premier League right now, averaging less than one per game at the halfway stage of the season. However, they did beat the Tangerines at St Andrews a couple of months ago and you can get 12/5 with Skybet that City finally break their duck away from home this term.

The Midlands side will try and keep things tight and it’s worth noting that they have drawn five of their matches on the road, with Coral offering 12/5 that this match ends all square. However, we think that Blackpool could just have the edge with a 2-1 victory, something that’s on offer at 17/2 (Skybet).

Fulham v West Brom, 8pm

The Baggies were massively unfortunate to lose against Manchester United on New Year’s Day, with the referee failing to award a penalty to the home side in the first half and then Peter Odemwingie missing from the spot with the scoreline at 1-1. However, Roberto Di Matteo’s team emerge from the Christmas break off the back of four straight defeats and they will be looking to stop the rot in west London.

West Brom are as big as 11/4 with bet365 to win at Craven Cottage against a Fulham side who are continuing to look toothless in attack. Mark Hughes’ team did manage to win 2-0 at Stoke during the festive period, although they are suffering without Bobby Zamora and it’s not clear where a goal will come from. Perhaps this is finally the game where Andy Johnson (13/2 Paddy Power) finds the net and the striker did look sharp at White Hart Lane on Saturday.

The Cottagers are available at 6/5 with Coral to win this match and that would be a result which would pull them out of the relegation zone. The manager will be hoping for his team to keep things a lot tighter than they did in their last home match (which West Ham won 3-1) and a scrappy 1-0 win (7/1 Ladbrokes) would suit Fulham as they look for a precious three points to ensure that a return to the Championship doesn’t happen.

With both teams desperate not to lose, we could witness a cagey encounter on Tuesday night and Under 2.5 Goals can be backed at 4/6 with bet365, although the Baggies have a decent chance of winning this match if they can repeat the performance they served up against the Red Devils. Odemwingie is 7/1 (Coral) to make amends for that penalty miss and Graeme Dorrans (14/1 Sporting Bet) is looking better with every match.

Manchester United v Stoke City, 8pm

The Red Devils have reached the halfway stage of the season without losing a game and match number twenty should pose no problems on that front. If they are to taste defeat this term, then Manchester United are likely to experience this on the road, rather than at Old Trafford against a side that have already lost five away matches this term.

The Premier League leaders are 3/10 with William Hill to collect another three points as they blaze a trail towards the title, although they might have to contend without Wayne Rooney. The striker picked up an injury at the Hawthorns on Saturday and is unlikely to recover, although he is 10/3 with bet365 to open the scoring. Partner in crime Dimitar Berbatov is a 7/2 chance with the same firm and Javier Hernandez (5/1 Coral) demonstrated his worth against the Baggies by scoring the winner.

Stoke are 12/1 (Paddy Power) to pull off a shock win and have the blue half of Manchester dancing in the streets. The Potters will approach the game with a stout defence in mind and it’s worth considering that they are unbeaten in their last three away matches. Perhaps a draw (5/1 Skybet) isn’t out of the question for a team that beat Everton on Saturday.

After all, the Red Devils were slightly fortunate to win at The Hawthorns and this could be a frustrating encounter for a team who haven’t yet hit top gear this season. It could be worth backing them to win 1-0 at odds of 7/1 with Victor Chandler and 2-0 (6/1 William Hill) although Sir Alex Ferguson will hope to have Nani back from injury and the Portuguese winger is a 6/1 chance (bet365) to break the deadlock and set his team on their way.
