Andy Gray and Richard Keys suspended for Bolton v Chelsea match

There was a female official running the line at Molineux on Saturday, with Sian Massey giving a great account of herself, especially when it came to a correct offside call which led to Liverpool’s first goal.

However, not everyone was impressed by Massey officiating at a Premier League match, with Andy Gray and Richard Keys making off-air comments which have led to Sky suspending them from Monday’s night’s game at the Reebok Stadium.

The comments were largely sexist, with the pair questioning whether a woman could understand the offside rule and also lamenting Karren Brady’s comments about sexism in a newspaper column.

Sky Sports managing director, Barney Francis, said he had spoken to both Keys and Gray personally. “It has been made clear to each of them that their comments were totally unacceptable.

“Those views are entirely inconsistent with our ethos as a business and employer, and will rightly offend many of our customers, our people and the wider public,” he said. “They are inexcusable from anyone at Sky, regardless of their role or seniority.”
